Contact your Supervisor, Save the Cleanup!

Save the Cleanup!

Many of you asked last night what you can do to help save the cleanup.

You can customize the sample scripts below to reach out to your County Supervisor to save the cleanup! Please call or email TODAY as many of the Supervisors are transitioning out of the office, and we need them to be ready to take action before the end of the year!

My name is (___________) and I live in (_______________). I would like to remind Supervisor (___________________) that this last August, the Ventura County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved partnering with Los Angeles County and the City of Los Angeles to consider litigation if the long-delayed cleanup of the Santa Susana Field Lab isn't as stringent as possible.

The Department of Toxic Substances Control plans to release the Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement (PEIR) by the end of this year. I’m concerned that it won’t uphold the prior cleanup agreements to a “background” cleanup standard.

I am asking that Supervisor (______________) urge the rest of the board to be prepared to move in litigation if needed. Once the PEIR is released, there may only be 30 days for the County to act.

The “background” cleanup is important to protect (pick one or more: my family, my health, the environment, wildlife, etc) from the Santa Susana Field Lab’s dangerous contamination.

Thank you.

My name is (___________) and I live in (_______________). I would like to remind Supervisor (___________________) that this last May, the Los Angeles Supervisors directed the LA County Counsel to work with other affected jurisdictions and nonprofits to explore potential legal action to ensure that the Santa Susana Field Lab’s 2007 and 2010 cleanup agreements are carried out, and that a full cleanup is completed as soon as possible. The Board also directed the County’s legislative team to support legislation at the state and federal levels to assure a full “cleanup to background” of the contaminated areas.

Once the PEIR is released, there may only be 30 days for the County to act

The “background” cleanup is important to protect (pick one or more: my family, my health, the environment, wildlife, etc) from the Santa Susana Field Lab’s dangerous contamination.

Thank you.
